Planning to Meet or Exceed the Florida Energy Code

Energy By Design is certified as a third party inspection company located in Central Florida. We provide the energy code compliance testing required by the Florida Energy Code.

Modern House Exterior
Planning

Plan to meet or exceed the standards set by the Florida Energy Code found in the 2017 Florida Building Code - Energy, 6th edition (2017). Refer to the U.S. Department of Energy Air Leakage Guide for methods used in the building design for high efficiency and low air leakage rates.

Strategy

Evidence of meeting Florida's energy code requirements must be demonstrated.

A visual inspection alone does not provide the information needed. Measuring building thermal envelope and duct leakages are the most definitive ways to answer the question of meeting the building performance levels required by the Florida Energy Code.

Results

By choosing Energy By Design you're working with a BPI Certified Building Analyst and a Resnet certified HERS Rater, qualified to provide the field testing and documentation required to meet the Florida Energy Code. To schedule a Blower Door and Duct Leakage Test call: 407-450-0295

Achieving and Evaluating Residential Compliance of Tight Envelopes
Webinar, which took place on March 10, 2016, discussed the relationship between home envelope tightness and energy performance and the policy implications of stronger energy code requirements. Focus was given on how to attain tighter envelopes and the impact of envelope tightness on HVAC load calculations, the relationship between envelope tightness and intentional ventilation, and a few lessons learned from the Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) verifier program. More information is available at: https://www.energycodes.gov/resource-...

Energy Code Compliance Paths

This webinar took a look at the flexibility and options built into the International Energy Conservation Code as well as the various paths of compliance that can be taken and what type of documentation is needed for each path.

Although not specific to Florida, this presentation gives important information regarding the Energy Rating Index and is valuable content for everyone interested in International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) standards.
